Chongyun, the Popsicle eating claymore wielding Cryo user. He is one of the best Cryo supports and does so with style. He can fit comfortably in various team comps and bust out elemental reactions very easily. There is not much else to say about him besides perhaps that he is pretty cool. Pun intended.
Chongyun’s Best Weapons
Support options: Sacrificial Greatsword; Favonius Greatsword
Sacrificial Greatsword is perhaps Chongyun’s best option as he shines most in a support role. By attacking an enemy with his Elemental Skill, on hit it has a 40% chance to end its cool down but can only happen once every 30 seconds. With higher refinement this chance can increase up to 80%. This will allow Chongyun to consistently apply Cryo to enemies and allow for various elemental reactions. Not to mention it also has Energy Recharge as its main ability.
Favonius Greatsword is an okay alternative for the Sacrificial Greatsword, if you don’t have one. Though it is not as useful. Although this weapon has more Energy Recharge than the previous greatsword, its ability relies on the amount of CRIT Rate that Chongyun has. If Chongyun successfully lands a critical hit, there is a 60% chance to produce 6 Energy from Elemental Particles once every 12 seconds. With higher refinements this can be increased to 100% chance every 6 seconds.
DPS options: Wolfs Gravestone; Prototype Archaic
Wolfs Gravestone is an excellent choice for any DPS characters. This greatsword in particular has a great ability which can lend as a support as well as DPS. It increased Chongyun’s ATK by 20%, and when he strikes an enemy who has less than 30% HP, it increase the whole party’s ATK by 40% for 12 seconds with a cool down of 30 seconds.
Prototype Archaic is a decent DPS option and it is a free option. It has a 50% chance to deal 240% more ATK DMG within a small AoE, every 15 seconds. This can be increased up to 480% additional ATK DMG, but players will have to be lucky enough to get prototype drops from bosses.
Side note: DO NOT USE SNOW-TOMBED STARSILVER ON CHONGYUN. First of all, it gives a Physical DMG Bonus which Chongyun can’t reliably utilize, due to his attacks being infused with Cryo. Meaning all of his Physical DMG gets converted into Cryo DMG instead. This greatsword may look tailor made for him, but it isn’t.
Chongyun’s Best Artifacts

Blizzard Strayer:
2 Piece: Cryo DMG Bonus +15%
4 Piece: When a character attacks an opponent affected by Cryo, their CRIT Rate is increased by 20%. If the opponent is Frozen, CRIT Rate is increased by an additional 20%.

Noblesse Oblige:
2 Piece: Elemental Burst DMG +20%
4 Piece: Using an Elemental Burst increases all party members' ATK by 20% for 12s. This effect cannot stack.
Blizzard Strayer can increase Chongyun’s Cryo DMG whereas the Nobless Oblige can increase this Elemental Burst DMG. For support Chongyun, a 2 piece of each set would be optimal, whereas a DPS or Burst support Chongyun would want a 4 piece of either set.

As with any character, their Goblet should be a bonus that applies to their main DMG output. In Chongyun’s case, he will need a Cryo DMG Bonus Goblet. For the other pieces, he may benefit from ATK% on his Sands piece, and either CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG on his circlet.
